Ma DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGY, MD ANDERSON, HOUSTON, TX, United States Introduction MRI of the liver is routinely used in the staging and follow-up of oncologic patients. The current clinical practice is to use a 1.5T magnet. 3.0T MRI scanners offer superior signal to noise ratio (SNR) over the conventional 1.5T. There are limited reports of the assessment of the switch from lower field strength magnet to 3T. Our goal is to compare T2 weighted liver lesion detection at 3T MRI compared to images obtained at 1.5T.

T2-weighted Liver Mri at 3t Using a Blade Technique: Comparison with a Standard Rectilinear T2-weighted Sequence for Image Quality and Lesion Detection
Introduction: The quality of T2-weighted images (T2WI) of the liver in the clinical setting is often degraded by ghosting artifact from various sources of motion. This artifact can obscure the margins of the liver, intra-hepatic vessels, and focal liver lesions, lowering diagnostic utility. One study has noted that such motion within the liver is more severe at 3T compared with at 1.5T [1]. Fur...

PURPOSE To compare black-blood multicontrast carotid imaging at 3T and 1.5T and assess compatibility between morphological measurements of carotid arteries at 1.5T and 3T. MATERIALS AND METHODS Five healthy subjects and two atherosclerosis patients were scanned in 1.5T and 3T scanners with a similar protocol providing transverse T1-, T2-, and proton density (PD)-weighted black-blood images us...

متن کاملT2-Weighted Liver MRI Using the MultiVane Technique at 3T: Comparison with Conventional T2-Weighted MRI
OBJECTIVE To assess the value of applying MultiVane to liver T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) compared with conventional T2WIs with emphasis on detection of focal liver lesions. MATERIALS AND METHODS Seventy-eight patients (43 men and 35 women) with 86 hepatic lesions and 20 pancreatico-biliary diseases underwent MRI including T2WIs acquired using breath-hold (BH), respiratory-triggered (RT), and M...
متن کاملWhite Matter Hyperintensities on 1.5 and 3 Tesla Brain MRI in Healthy Individuals
Background: White matter hyperintensities (WMH) on T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are frequent incidental findings in brains of asymptomatic healthy individuals (HI). The morphological and spatial distribution of these WMH between standard 1.5T scanners and increasingly available 3T scanners in a large population of HI in clinical routine settings has not been investigated. Object...
